Hi, I'm Karen

I am a lover of all forms of movement and am passionate about helping people create a deeper connection with their bodies and minds. I have been teaching yoga and group fitness in Southern California since 2012 and bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my classes. I am known for my authentic teaching style and specialize in leading classes that are intentional and informative.

My Story

I took my first yoga class in 2008 after a friend “convinced” me to go. At the time, I was dealing with a lot of stress and anxiety and felt very disconnected. I had always been interested in trying yoga, but didn’t feel like I “fit” in. I didn’t consider myself particularly peaceful or flexible like all the other people in yoga class seemed to be, but it didn’t take long  for me to realize that the most important part of practice is simply showing up for yourself.

The more I practiced, the more I noticed how much yoga was impacting my life off the mat. In college, I majored in Sociology to better understand the world around me, but it was my years as a yoga student that helped me better understand myself. After experiencing how transformative and empowering the practice could be, I felt a strong pull to share it with others.

I completed my 200-hour training in 2012 through True Flow Yoga and continued my education with the Yoga Therapy RX program at Loyola Marymount University in 2014. Since then, I’ve trained in Basi and Stott Pilates, and continue to take workshops to further educate myself. In addition to yoga, I also teach mat and reformer Pilates, group fitness classes, lead retreats and workshops, and mentor teachers.

My goal as a teacher is to create classes that feel welcoming, clear, and supportive. I encourage people to approach movement as a way to explore their bodies rather than follow a one-size-fits-all approach. I also aim to keep my classes inclusive and free from body shaming or diet culture. I hope that my teaching inspires people to find more freedom in being themselves, and that when they leave my classes and step back into the world, they take with them an unshakeable confidence built from the inside out.
